Tell us something about yourself.

I guess you could say I was a restless soul, growing up with my mom, dad, and older brother in the suburbs of Zhongshan. But I prefer to think of it as an appetite for life. I love anything and everything that will expand my horizons whether it be seeing films, meeting friends, or traveling. This made me search for business programs outside of China.

What makes you happy at Essen?

I feel valued here. In my first month I was trusted to write a thought piece, which says a lot. Also, the creative level is exceptional, which is inspiring.

Why strategy?

I always had my sights set on being in the creative industry. And what strategy does is that it allows creatives to be even more creative. In my world, it doesn’t get much better than that.

What is your most treasured memory?

I would say going on a safari for the first time in my life. I had never seen wild animals running freely in their own habitats. When the sun set on them and they were just minding their own business I felt a new level of freedom.

What would your job be if you weren’t a strategist?

Probably a director. As a filmmaker, you can immerse the audience into a virtual world, tell them a fascinating story, and potentially influence their thoughts. That is the coolest thing!
